Keep on trucking, Our Little Hero!

We have received regular updates on Garrett's progress and things are moving along as smoothly as can be expected. He's breathing on his own, and the tubes are starting to be removed bit by bit. Now that he's more alert, and expresses his emotions more effecively, his parents are having a tough time seeing him in pain, and understandably so. Blaine and Stacey expressed their sincere thanks for all of the support they have received from everyone. Thanks to everyone who is keeping Garrett in their prayers. Garrett has got a long road still ahead of him and like I've said before, every word helps. For anyone who has the means to do so, there are trust funds set up at both the Luseland Credit Union and the Royal Bank in Luseland to help out with the mounting expenses that nobody in Thrun's situation would have been be prepared for. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Posted by Hello

Yesterday Grandma and Grandpa McNally made it back from their holiday in Yuma and brought us the bassinet we had asked them to pick up for us. I had planned to leave it in the box until a little closer to the baby's due date, but Jesson had other ideas. He was positive that whatever was in the box looked like fun and needed to be opened right away. As soon as I set it up, he jumped in and said "night night" in his own little language. We've tried to explain to him that it's for the baby, so now when he sees it he says "baby" although I don't think he really gets it. The reality of adding a child won't hit him until the baby is here I'm sure. He looks at us like we're crazy when we tell him that there's a baby in Mommy's belly. Maybe as I grow larger and wider he'll start to understand. We'll keep trying anyway. Posted by Hello

Way To Go Garrett!

Thank you to everyone who said a little something to help Garrett through. I received a call from his Mom last night saying he'd made it through the surgery. Things looked pretty bad yesterday so the doctors decided to operate right away. Much to his parents delight and the doctors amazement he has pulled through the first leg of his journey. Although what they found during surgery looked worse than originally thought, nobody told Garrett and he seems to have retained some movement in all 4 limbs. We knew he was a tough little man. He's got some really strong parents and hopeful family behind him, not to mention tonnes of well-wishing freinds. Keep on trucking little man! We Love Ya!

Stay Strong Little Guy!

Please keep in your thoughts, or say a prayer for, this sweet little face and all of his family.
His name is Garrett Thrun, he's Jesson's little friend. He has become very ill and is facing a life threatening surgery in Calgary within the next day or so. His parents and grandparents will be by his side to support him too, but every little bit helps. Garrett has had to be tough up until now to live with his brother Matthew and his sister Kaitlyn. We hope he can draw from his will and resilience to keep fighting his way back to health. He's a tough little boy, we know he can do it.
With teary eyes and heavy hearts, we hope for nothing but a positive outcome.
We Love You Blaine, Stacey, Garrett, & Family!

Scott calls Jesson "Mini Me" because he likes absolutely everything Daddy does. He imitates him every chance he gets. Here he's vegged on the couch, remote in hand, watching a Baby Einstein video. He doesn't sit still for more than a couple of minutes at a time, but I managed to catch him before he kept running. Posted by Hello

After a VERY long day Thursday and a stressful time at Day Care, Jesson needed all of his comfort items and his Daddy. **I know, I know, he's too old for a soother! He generally uses it only at bed time, and I'd rather have him addicted to something I can take away instead of his thumb - get over it**. They sat at the computer and tested out the DVD player while I made supper. Jesson had quite a time last week with Day Care, I think he got lost between the really little babies and the kids who demanded what they wanted. He was an emotional mess when I picked him up Tuesday, hungry, thirsty, and crying. After a talk with the staff and a little breakdown of my own, Thursday seemed to go much more smoothly. Scott and I were away in Saskatoon for a pre-natal appointment, a late Valentine's dinner, and computer repairs. The pre-natal went well, we heard and recorded the heart beat and all sounds well so far. Our lunch out was excellent! The computer got an overhaul and is working properly now, yay! The process of re-installing all of our programs is coming along slowly but surely. It's amazing how you get used to all the old settings, and how lost you feel when things don't work like they used to. Jesson is back to his normal sleep patterns now and will re-visit Day Care again in a couple of weeks when Scott and I have to head out of town again. After the last visit, I don't think he'll mind this time. We'll keep you posted on the pre-natals, next visit is ultrasound time. We'll have pictures of that to share for sure. Take Care. Posted by Hello
Happy Valentine's Day
To Everyone!

Yet another pose. Last night's Jello dessert after supper was a great reason to smile I guess. What a grin! When asked what was in the cup, he said "tedaten" which is his newest word, his way of saying Penaten - his new diaper cream. Jello wasn't a challenging enough word I guess. Posted by Hello

On Saturday we headed to the farm to do our "chores" for Grandma & Grandpa McNally who are in Yuma. The yard was quite drifted over and hard to get around in, so Scott and Jesson plowed the whole thing. Jesson stood beside Daddy the whole time without making a peep, he's a great little helper! I have a feeling Grandpa McNally's going to have a new best friend come Spring and seeding time. Posted by Hello

Jesson recently figured out he could "pose" for the camera. The two of us spent quite a while snapping picture after picture one afternoon (thank goodness for digital) while Jesson would re-position himself and tell me to "go" again. It was really funny to watch. Once a picture was snapped, he'd run to the camera to see the preview and laugh himself silly. Posted by Hello

Jesson is almost always a happy kid. He's terribly busy and spends most of his day playing with trucks and other boy things or watching them on TV, and of course helping me. We clean the house together, do alundry together, and go downtown for the mail and groceries together. He's always by my side. Last week Jesson got a package in the mail from Grandma and Grampa Nicholetts with new clothes in it. In this picture he's wearing his new Scooby Doo jammies. Thanks Bumpa's! Posted by Hello

My little helper! What can I say. Last night while getting supper ready, Jesson's job was to get the sausage from the fridge. Once he had it, he tried biting it through the package and when I told him he had to cook it first, he opened the oven and stuck it in. Just that simple, Mom! Why didn't I think of that? Posted by Hello

Jesson is developing faster than we can keep up. His vocabulary is getting better every day, and he picks up a new action most days too. He's becoming quite social too, he rides in one of those car-style grocery carts when we go to the Co-op and he says "Hi" to everyone who goes by. He's learning his farm animals and unfortunately labelled a woman's leather patchwork purse as a "cow" quite loudly last week while we were in the produce isle. When I turned around to see what he was looking at, I knew right away that he was talking about the hand bag but the woman holding it was really large and I wasn't sure how I'd explain what he yelled so I hid my head in the lettuce pretending to ignore him. When we brought the groceries home, he proceeded to unpack the soup cans into a cupboard I had left empty for him to play in, and all by himself! We just stood there and watched, it was so cute! He's infinitely busy, the joke is we don't have any recent pictures because we can't catch him. He seems to run everywhere. He hates to have his diaper changed like most kids his age, I guess it involves too much down time. It's amazing to see how fast he catches onto things, including the swear I said on the phone to his Grandma one evening, he caught that RIGHT AWAY. Scott's still mad at me for that one. This picture was taken before his recent hair cut, and after a nap. It's the only photo I caught before he jumped out of the oven drawer, half blinking. See, too fast to catch him.

Congrats Jerk!

Sincere Congratulations to our Dear Friend Shane Betts on his recent engagement. Shane was only with us for a couple of years, then the RCMP took him away again (not in the back of the car either). While he was here he won our hearts with his sincere, caring ways and his social personality. He was able to hold his beer (except those lemon ones), but could not hold his junk food when it came to a match with me one late night on patrol. Remember the tree by the school in Harris Shane?
The soon-to-be Mrs. must be someone REALLY special because he's an aweful picky guy when it comes to his "best girl". We hope some day to be able to meet her, but Moncton, NB is quite a hike from here. I'm sure she's wonderful and she's got herself a great guy. A man that's true to his word, even when it means fulfilling a promise to finish the 6 month old lemon beer he left in our fridge before he left town. What a guy!
We sure do miss you Shane, and we're thrilled you've found Mrs. Right. Keep us posted on your plans and send us pictures of all the little ones ;-). Take Care of yourselves, OK?

Today was Daddy's Friday off. Much to Jesson's liking, he had Daddy all to himself all day. It was WAY too cold to bother going outside, so we spent the day playing with "tractors", baking, and had coffee with a friend who stopped by. It was the perfect day to get very little accomplished. Posted by Hello

Welcome Back!

Sorry for the delay in posting, I guess I put this little project on the back-burner for a while. Things have been a little backed up around here lately due to the flu bug during Christmas, and now my never-ending flu symptoms that keep me moving slowly most of the day.
Our Christmas turned out as well as could be expected given that Jesson came down with the flu on Christmas Eve at 10:00 p.m. losing his lunch until he finally slept soundly at 3:00 a.m.. The following morning, as Scott and I dragged ourselves to the coffee maker, he bounded around the house like nothing had ever happened. He managed to open all of his presents and had some dry breakfast.
After a long nap we decided to head to the farm to celebrate with the McNally's, convinced that it must have been something he ate. As usual the food was amazing and it was wonderful to see everyone. Jesson had a good lunch but woke from his nap with a high fever and could do little more than lay around. We had to cut our evening short and headed to the comfort of our own beds.
On boxing day we were due to arrive at the lake to visit with my side of the family and had already phoned to say we wouldn't be there when Jesson seemed to bounce back AGAIN. After he yelled at me for not letting him have candy for lunch, we decided he was healthy enough to make the trip to the lake. On the way there, Scott started to complain about his stomache and within hours of arriving he was bed-ridden where he stayed for most of the two day visit with the flu as well. This is year #2 for Scott and the flu! Despite how ill he felt, Scott did manage to open his gifts and snap a few pictures. By the day we left, he had a little food in him finally too. It was nice to see Mom, Dad, and my sister and her family from Alberta again.
Over Christmas I ate so often I don't think my stomache had a chance to think about morning sickness, it was never empty. Once we got home, and after I had told everyone it must be a girl because I'd hardly been sick at all(woops), I was hit hard from morning until night. I was starting to get a little depressed about it, when my OB/GYN told me that it's the women who say they have little to no negative pregnancy side effects who usually miscarry. Now I feel a little better about my numerous daily trips down the hall. It's all for a good cause, and it won't last forever(although it feels like it might some days).
All in all, we managed to accomplish almost everything we planned to during our Christmas break. Scott didn't get a chance to go snowmobiling while we were at the lake, and we hadn't planned on passing the flu to as many people as we did either (SO sorry Sarah, Kendell, and Grampa Nicholetts[Uncle Norman too]). But we'll hope everyone is healthy for next year and if we have the flu again, I think we'll just keep it to ourselves and stay home.
We hope your Christmas was all you hoped it would be. Keep in touch!

Once Christmas was over, Jesson was back to his normal busy self, much to the cat's dismay. Posted by Hello

Auntie Cari and Uncle Darrell got Jesson a musical school bus which was in instant hit. Posted by Hello

Grampa and Grandma Nicholetts got Jesson a Tonka Bulldozer, which he calls a tractor (close enough). Posted by Hello

Jesson received a lot of cool stuff for Christmas, most of which we don't have photos of, but these two things were close favourites one evening before bed - his Dancing Booh Bah, and his mini Ikea lounge chair. Posted by Hello
