Keep on trucking, Our Little Hero!
We have received regular updates on Garrett's progress and things are moving along as smoothly as can be expected. He's breathing on his own, and the tubes are starting to be removed bit by bit. Now that he's more alert, and expresses his emotions more effecively, his parents are having a tough time seeing him in pain, and understandably so. Blaine and Stacey expressed their sincere thanks for all of the support they have received from everyone. Thanks to everyone who is keeping Garrett in their prayers. Garrett has got a long road still ahead of him and like I've said before, every word helps. For anyone who has the means to do so, there are trust funds set up at both the Luseland Credit Union and the Royal Bank in Luseland to help out with the mounting expenses that nobody in Thrun's situation would have been be prepared for. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Yesterday Grandma and Grandpa McNally made it back from their holiday in Yuma and brought us the bassinet we had asked them to pick up for us. I had planned to leave it in the box until a little closer to the baby's due date, but Jesson had other ideas. He was positive that whatever was in the box looked like fun and needed to be opened right away. As soon as I set it up, he jumped in and said "night night" in his own little language. We've tried to explain to him that it's for the baby, so now when he sees it he says "baby" although I don't think he really gets it. The reality of adding a child won't hit him until the baby is here I'm sure. He looks at us like we're crazy when we tell him that there's a baby in Mommy's belly. Maybe as I grow larger and wider he'll start to understand. We'll keep trying anyway.
Way To Go Garrett!
Thank you to everyone who said a little something to help Garrett through. I received a call from his Mom last night saying he'd made it through the surgery. Things looked pretty bad yesterday so the doctors decided to operate right away. Much to his parents delight and the doctors amazement he has pulled through the first leg of his journey. Although what they found during surgery looked worse than originally thought, nobody told Garrett and he seems to have retained some movement in all 4 limbs. We knew he was a tough little man. He's got some really strong parents and hopeful family behind him, not to mention tonnes of well-wishing freinds. Keep on trucking little man! We Love Ya!
Stay Strong Little Guy!
Please keep in your thoughts, or say a prayer for, this sweet little face and all of his family.
His name is Garrett Thrun, he's Jesson's little friend. He has become very ill and is facing a life threatening surgery in Calgary within the next day or so. His parents and grandparents will be by his side to support him too, but every little bit helps. Garrett has had to be tough up until now to live with his brother Matthew and his sister Kaitlyn. We hope he can draw from his will and resilience to keep fighting his way back to health. He's a tough little boy, we know he can do it.
With teary eyes and heavy hearts, we hope for nothing but a positive outcome.
We Love You Blaine, Stacey, Garrett, & Family!
Good Luck Little Man, and Hang Tough!
Scott calls Jesson "Mini Me" because he likes absolutely everything Daddy does. He imitates him every chance he gets. Here he's vegged on the couch, remote in hand, watching a Baby Einstein video. He doesn't sit still for more than a couple of minutes at a time, but I managed to catch him before he kept running.
After a VERY long day Thursday and a stressful time at Day Care, Jesson needed all of his comfort items and his Daddy. **I know, I know, he's too old for a soother! He generally uses it only at bed time, and I'd rather have him addicted to something I can take away instead of his thumb - get over it**. They sat at the computer and tested out the DVD player while I made supper. Jesson had quite a time last week with Day Care, I think he got lost between the really little babies and the kids who demanded what they wanted. He was an emotional mess when I picked him up Tuesday, hungry, thirsty, and crying. After a talk with the staff and a little breakdown of my own, Thursday seemed to go much more smoothly. Scott and I were away in Saskatoon for a pre-natal appointment, a late Valentine's dinner, and computer repairs. The pre-natal went well, we heard and recorded the heart beat and all sounds well so far. Our lunch out was excellent! The computer got an overhaul and is working properly now, yay! The process of re-installing all of our programs is coming along slowly but surely. It's amazing how you get used to all the old settings, and how lost you feel when things don't work like they used to. Jesson is back to his normal sleep patterns now and will re-visit Day Care again in a couple of weeks when Scott and I have to head out of town again. After the last visit, I don't think he'll mind this time. We'll keep you posted on the pre-natals, next visit is ultrasound time. We'll have pictures of that to share for sure. Take Care.
On Saturday we headed to the farm to do our "chores" for Grandma & Grandpa McNally who are in Yuma. The yard was quite drifted over and hard to get around in, so Scott and Jesson plowed the whole thing. Jesson stood beside Daddy the whole time without making a peep, he's a great little helper! I have a feeling Grandpa McNally's going to have a new best friend come Spring and seeding time.
Jesson recently figured out he could "pose" for the camera. The two of us spent quite a while snapping picture after picture one afternoon (thank goodness for digital) while Jesson would re-position himself and tell me to "go" again. It was really funny to watch. Once a picture was snapped, he'd run to the camera to see the preview and laugh himself silly.
Jesson is almost always a happy kid. He's terribly busy and spends most of his day playing with trucks and other boy things or watching them on TV, and of course helping me. We clean the house together, do alundry together, and go downtown for the mail and groceries together. He's always by my side. Last week Jesson got a package in the mail from Grandma and Grampa Nicholetts with new clothes in it. In this picture he's wearing his new Scooby Doo jammies. Thanks Bumpa's!
My little helper! What can I say. Last night while getting supper ready, Jesson's job was to get the sausage from the fridge. Once he had it, he tried biting it through the package and when I told him he had to cook it first, he opened the oven and stuck it in. Just that simple, Mom! Why didn't I think of that?
