Jesson has become quite bored with being at home as it's not possible to make as many trips outdoors as we used to. To try and keep him busy we tried baking. He had to "stick fingers in" to every ingredient, happily taste-testing and giving his approval. He was quite proud to be eating the dessert HE made for supper that night.
Conor Scott has made it two weeks in our household so far with little trouble aside from a diaper rash. Jesson has been pretty gentle with him and wants nothing to do with him when he cries, but he does ask "is he alright Mom?". He sleeps like the dead as long as he's wrapped up in every baby blanket we own. He started out life on the cold side and still prefers to be bundled really warmly. As of Monday he weighed 8 lb. 12 oz. so he's gaining weight nicely. We are still waiting for an official diagnosis for that kidney blockage which unfortunately still exists but doesn't seem to effect his little fire hose. We'll keep you posted.
Conor spends a couple of periods each day awake and checking out his surroundings. He loves to hear Jesson and Scott's voices and tries to track them whenever he hears them. He's surprisingly good with his head already. He turns his head from one side to the other when he's laying on my chest and rarely lays his head down on my shoulder when he's alert or upset. I don't remember Jesson having that much control this early. All in all he's a pretty good baby, we're very lucky.
Well, the Saskaton Exhibition has come and gone for another year. Jesson had a blast, Scott and I enjoyed the atmosphere, and Conor was oblivious to it all. We tried to take in as much as possible in the short evening we were there. Jesson enjoyed the rides, games, food, and danced to Glass Tiger at their outdoor show. We also saw the Super Dogs, ate Spud Nuts, and walked as many exhibits as our feet could handle, then it was time to head home. It was exhausting but fun. We're looking forward to next year when Conor will be able to go on the little rides too.
It was business as usual on Wednesday the 27th at Gordie Howe Campground in Saskatoon. Jesson was out for a walk in the puddles with Grandma Nicholetts and I snapped this shot of him enjoying being a boy. If only he'd have known that he'd be a big brother by the next morning, he may have played a little longer or got a little muddier. He had a blast!
It's a BOY! We knew that already though.
During delivery Conor had the cord wrapped tightly around his little neck and it had to be clamped and cut before he was fully delivered. As a result he spent some time in the care of the NICU experts being checked out. It took nearly 5 hours before he was alert enough to nurse. A very long 5 hours. Oxygen deprivation is a scary thing!
Grandpa and Grandma Nicholetts came to visit as soon as they could arriving shortly after visiting hours started. Later that night we had the Taksas family of Saskatoon come to see Conor. The following day my friend Sherrie Charles, also of Saskatoon, stopped in to see us for while too. It was great to show Conor off to everyone, I think he's quite cute.
