HAPPY CANADA DAY, EH!! 2007
Posted by Picasa

The night we returned from holidays, Jesson convinced Daddy that they should set up the tent and sleep outside. The excitement level was high until the lightts went out and it was time for bed, then Jesson got scared that there was a storm coming. Scott had a great sleep in the tent alone though!

The foreman and I finished fencing in the backyard and driveway in May so that the kids could run free with out encountering traffic. It's the most useful reno we've done yet. Thanks to Daddy and Grandma Lois and Jesson for your help.

Fresh air is always fun!

New carpet was installed in May thanks to that nasty old couch you see on the junk trailer. It looks great despite the kids wanting to keep the sub-floor for their bikes.

May Long Weekend was cold and wet but we all managed to have lots of fun. Thanks again for everything Grandma and Grandpa Nicholetts!

The boys are still developing their ability to play together which goes hand-in-hand with many temper fits and fist fights but they miss eachother when they're apart so we know they still love eachother.

By the time we landed in Saskatoon everyone was sick of being on the move and were at each others throats. Thankfully Grandma and Grandpa Nicholetts were there to welcome us home with a smile and to take us out for an early supper, thanks again G & G! The boys stayed awake for the whole drive to Rosetown...somehow...and once we let them out of the truck at home they headed straight for their sandbox. To say they were thrilled to be home would be an understatement. Now that we've tackled a long trip like that once, we'll be better prepared for the next one. We plan to perhaps drive next time, taking more time to see the sights and show the boys the beauty of Ontario.

As soon as we arrived we met with Auntie Joyce and once we collected all of our gear (and packed it in the car(s) - Thanks again Auntie Joyce!) we headed over the visit with Great Grandma Nicholetts. The boys took to Grandma and Auntie Joyce instantly and the hugs began. Grandma is still just as cuddly as she was when I was a kid. Grandma gave both of the boys a Cabbage Patch doll which they both thought was pretty cool. Auntie Joyce gave them some coloring books and chocolates that they had to have immediately, of course. They both spent a little time with Grandma checking out the view out her window and chatting about our trip. Jesson came to the realization that he now has "3 Grandma's" which he thinks is awesome! We visited with Great Grandma every day we were there and look forward to visiting again some day soon.

Auntie Joyce went out of her way to make sure we had fun on our trip. She had us over to the appartment for supper one night to make sure we had a chance to visit with uncle Norman and Christopher too and the meal was excellent. She showed us the Sleeping Giant, took us to Mission Island to see the deer that feed there daily, took us to "camp", their beautiful cabin near Thunder Bay where we spent an afternoon visiting, and organized a dinner out with Great Grandma at Swiss Chalet which was quite a treat for her and for us. Thank You for all the trouble you went to Auntie Joyce. One afternoon Scott and I and the boys took a very quick tour of Kakabeka falls, about 30 minutes out of Thunder bay. Conor slept through it but Jesson thought it was pretty neat.

The boys' first flight was from Saskatoon to Winnipeg. It left at 6:00 a.m. so we dragged them out of bed at 3:30 a.m. which should explain the Jammie's. both of them were well behaved and took it all in. They spent most of the first flight looking out the window or watching TV. They both enjoyed the thrust of take-off and all the noise involved in landing. Both of them chewed a lot of gum and even though Conor was recovering from an ear infection, neither of them seemed to be bothered much by the changes in pressure. Once we were in Winnipeg the 5 hour layover and struggle to nap began. Mommy won and they both slept double-decker-style in the stroller while I walked the terminal. On our second flight from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay, they both visited the pilot prior to take-off. Jesson asked if he could fly, Conor just wanted to push all the buttons. Aside from the lack of sleep and lengthy layover the journey wasn't too terribly bad.

Decorating eggs for Easter is always fun, even more so this year as Conor could get into the fun too. And believe it or not, none of them broke! The finished product was beautiful!

The Easter Bunny was over-indulgent this year, the result of gift shopping under the influence of sleep deprivation. The boys (Jesson)had fun hunting for eggs. Conor had his cheeks packed full of jelly beans before the hunt even started and could have cared less that there were eggs laying around. It's always fun to see the surprised looks on their faces.

For Easter Pat & DeAnn made the lengthy trek to our house again thanks guys for driving! If you look REALLY closely you can see Grandma McNally peeking around Scott in the center picture. She was with us the whole weekend but that's the only photo we caught her in. We had a great visit with everyone and love having company. The boys are still talking about it.

On the weekend before Easter, Grandma and Grandpa Nicholetts invited us to the city for a visit in their hotel room. The boys had a blast in the pool and enjoyed the attention only grandparents can give. They went so hard they fell asleep in the truck on the way home, which rarely happens to both of them at once. Thanks for the visit G & G!!

Last Sunday we took the boys for a ride on the trike and quad. We had lots of fun and Scott and Jesson only had to winch Conor and I out of the mud once. There was PLENTY of mud. It was great to spend time outside together as family. Sometime soon we hope to make an afternoon out of ATV'ing to a park to build a fire and have lunch...perhaps we'll wait until the mud dries up a little.

On Monday we spent the day with a little foster dog named Alfie. He needed a haircut badly so I offered to give him a try. The poor little thing was matted down to his skin so all all I could do was shave him pretty much bald. He was patient through most of it and has an excellent temperament. He'd make someone a wonderful pet with some work on his manners. If you're interested visit the New Hope Dog Rescue site and check out "our pet list" for further information. Alfie is being fostered by Elaine Ogenchuk here in Rosetown.

If having Alfie over to play for the day wasn't enough excitement, we had Kenya and Kairo over after our evening walk too. Their Mom Allison is a good friend of mine and our local obedience instructor. Her boys were very well behaved even though they were too hot in our house. Jesson and Conor were thrilled to have such big dogs in their living room. Thanks for the visit Allison!

Whether it's making milk mustaches or rainbow toast, the boys enjoy spending time in the kitchen and love to "help" with anything I'm doing. As soon as Conor hears the water running when I wash my hands to get started, he yells "chair!" from the living room and comes running to push a kitchen chair up to the counter. Jesson has mastered the toaster and loves to make his own toast. The rainbow bread was a big hit.

Congratulations Auntie Cari & Uncle Darrell!!

I've been told there will be another Desjarlais added to the family in late November. Yipeee!
Now, we just need to cross our fingers and hope for a boy to shake things up.
Congratulations Cari, Darrell & Family - We can hardly wait!

Hello Again!

It's been quite a while since I last updated our Blog and there were quite a few photos to share so grab a coffee, you'll be here a while...

Thanks for visiting!
Today we took turns riding the quad. Daddy and Jesson went first, then Mommy and Conor had a turn. We took Jasper with us in the hope that he'd get some exercise running with us.

He ran alright, directly in the path of the flying mud behind the quad. What a dirty dog!

While I made lunch, the boys "played" in the front yard throwing large clumps of mud at each other. Conor chose to clean his hands by licking them, I heard. By the time they came in it was straight to the tub. Conor even had it in his diaper!

The weather was so nice to day that we ended the day with a wiener roast in the backyard. The boys loved eating outside and got filthy dirty once again. I'll be happy when the yard dries up a little bit. What a great day though.

Daddy took a trip to the lake a bit ago, and the boys and I had a movie night which included snacks and a foot spa. They thought that was pretty cool. Thanks for the Mary K fizzies Auntie Cari!

He put it on himself...well, almost.

Weee!
