Jesson is busy. He's 3 1/2 going on 18 and tells us regularly that if he keeps eating his meals he'll be bigger than us soon and he'll be the boss. He says he'll have his own job and his own bubble gum (Daddy keeps bubble gum in his desk). Just this morning after he finished his breakfast, he informed Scott and I that he will soon be driving like us. Last night he told me that if I wasn't careful with my steak knife and I cut myself he wouldn't feel sorry for me because he told me to be careful, AND I wouldn't get a band-aid either. He's quite a character and we're so looking forward to this bossy 3 year old stage passing. His poor little brother can't even move without Jesson wanting to organize where and when on his behalf. Jesson is terribly smart with a memory like an elephant. A year and a half ago when we set up his new bed (the top of a bunk set) we told him about the bottom bunk and how we would save it and the ladder until he got old enough to sleep there. Last week he wanted to sleep in my bed for night because he didn't need rails on the sides anymore so I told him that maybe it was time to get the big boy bed without sides from the basement. Within seconds he lit up and said "You mean the one with the ladder!". I thought that was pretty good recall. So now he sleeps on the bottom of the bunk bed set and the top serves as a play area with no mattress until Conor needs his own big boy bed. Hopefully time doesn't fly so fast that Jesson is driving before we're ready. But you never know so we'll just enjoy every day and take every new stage and development as it comes. It's amazing how quickly he's becoming a "Big Boy".
Conor is quite the entertainer. He loves to do things to get attention. He loves books and enjoys music whether it's from a commercial on TV or Mom's very imperfect rendition of a kids classic like Wheels on the Bus. When he wanders about the house he oftens "sings" his own tune as he plays, it's quite cute. Conor loves to wave "Hello" and "Bye Bye" and copies EVERYTHING his big brother does. He's a bruiser and it takes a LOT to make him cry - a phenomenon his brother tests regularly. He's going to be a handful in the coming months because he's rather strong-willed and tends to work me over to get what he wants. At the moment I tend to find his chubby pointer finger and his expressive attempt to explain what he wants rather irresistable. He tries so hard, how could I say no? Maybe it's not a bad thing that Daddy is his favorite super hero right now??
